Dear all,

I'd like to draw your attention to Raúl's comment to the post entitled CINEMA. He recommends a film he's recently seen. If anybody else wants to share his or her opinions about this or any other topic, feel free to do so.

Ana Cano will shortly be telling us something about Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

The film "Elizabeth. The Golden Age" represents The battle of Philip II's Spanish Armada against Elizabeth I of England. I'd like to tell you my own opinion about it. I’d like to tell you a short commentary about the film.

On the one hand, if we leave history apart, we can do another reading without expiry. We can see two personalities. One of them embodies Tolerance, the respect for different ideas or thoughts. They are illustrated by Elizabeth Queen. The other personality means authority, the only one thought imposed by force of Philip II. He was able to murder anybody if it was necessary.

On the other hand, the film shows the actions of fear and violence, two truths:

- "Fear generates violence"
- "Violence generates violence"

When fear grew up into Elizabeth, she forgot her ideals and turned authoritarian and imperative. Likewise, when María Estuardo was executed by the queen of England, Philip II found excuse for the battle.

Finally we can see an exaltation of feminist ideas in The Virgin Queen. She set out “Live next to a man is only a cultural habit”. Elizabeth strength wasn’t up to a man's figure, it was up to herself. This strength and independence were able to govern her own empire, although her royal education didn’t let her be free.
