You may want to hear this 6 minute radio programme on the subject of emigrating. Living abroad needn't be as tough as the picture suggests! (I guess it illustrates the meaning of insurmountable which came up the other day)

I think that when you start to live abroad, the culture shock is unvoidable, you tend to look for people from your own country and then, little by little, the clichés you have about that new country are tinging, and you integrate a new culture and a new way of life.
